Pommier Jewellers Re-Opens

 Just four days after a devasting fire destroyed its neighbouring building, Pommier Jewellers is opening the doors to its Cornwall landmark store - just in time for Christmas.

"We were very fortunate that our store suffered only minor water and smoke damage - which can easily be cleaned up," said Andre Pommier. "All of our merchandise was safe in our vault and the store itself was not damaged at all. Considering what could have been, it was a miracle that we escaped major damage."

This is good news for the hundreds of Cornwall and area shoppers who have made a gift from Pommier Jewellers a Christmas tradition.

"Our specialty is custom orders, and we were able to continue work on those orders despite of the temporary closure of the store," added Mr. Pommier. "We are on track to finish all of our current work on schedule, and are now taking orders for Christmas delivery."

The store was closed for four business days while Cornwall Fire Services dealt with the aftermath of the fire, including ensuring that the fire damaged building next-door was structurally sound. That work has now been completed, and for the Pommiers, it has been a hectic week of getting the power restored, the store cleaned up and ensuring that they have everthing in place to deal with this busy time of year.

"I have to thank everybody who called or stopped by to offer help - and that starts with the great firemen and other City officials who worked to deal with the fire," said Mr. Pommier. "I truly believe that Downtown Cornwall is the heart of our City, and the caring nature of Cornwall has been on full display these past few days."

Pommier Jewellers opens as usual for business at 9am on Friday, and will offer extended holiday shopping hours starting from Friday December 17th 9:30am to 7pm, Saturday the 18th 9:30am to 5pm, and Sunday the 19th 12 to 4pm. The week of December 20th thru to the 23rd 9:30am to 7pm, and finally December 24th 9:30am to 4pm.
